Whether you are a mum, CEO or entrepreneur sleep is undeniably one of the most important factors when it comes to maximising your health and performance.
The modern world is far from set up well to help us get a good night’s sleep though. There’s noise, lighting, stress, poor food choices but did you know that temperature has one of the largest parts to play when it comes to getting a fantastic night’s sleep
Ask yourself, when it’s a hot night how well do you sleep or if the room is freezing how well do you sleep then? Well some clever sleep scientist (yes that’s a real thing) have discovered that the optimised range for the best night’s sleep is between 60- and 68-degrees Fahrenheit (15 to 20 degrees centigrade).
So, it begs the question, how do we choose the desired temperature? Well, there is a fantastic tool called the Chilipad which does all the work for you. It’s a machine that cools or heats a small reservoir of water to the temperature you select and circulates around a mat that you put under your sheet. This allows for you to choose the exact temperature that suits you to get a better night’s sleep.
It’s a fantastic product and Chilipad Technology have created a new model called the Ooler which has even more functionally that allows you to change the temperature at set times throughout the night.
The only downside to these units is the noise they make. Some people need to have a quiet room to get the best night’s sleep and others can handle the noise of the fans fine. There are websites that show how to change out the fans for quieter ones, but we don’t advise this as it will most likely void the warranty. It’s the only gripe we have with the machine and do wonder why Chilipad didn’t use silent running fans to reduce the noise!
So, the next time you are lying awake at night struggling to get to sleep, maybe it could be time to invest in your own Chilipad.
